• Alpaca fiber is soft

  Woop!Wear uses only the finest alpaca fiber available—what the industry calls ”baby alpaca,” which is less than 21 microns thick. This compares to the thickness of fine, Merino sheep’s wool, but alpaca has a softer feel. (A micron is one millionth of a meter, or 1/25,000 of an inch. The term “baby alpaca” refers not to the age of the animal, but to the fineness of the fiber.)

  Alpaca fiber has a flat, low-profile scale (about half that of sheep’s wool). This gives alpaca it’s wonderfully smooth feel.
